The Black History Month under the theme “Hallowed Grounds: Sites of African American Memories”, celebrated in Harare last week, finished with the poetry competition and the book Not in Zimbabwe by Milton Chitsime recently published. The event was organized with the support of LitFest Harare and Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights.

The Black History Month also known as African-American History Month, or Negro History Week, created in 1926 in the US,

is celebrated annually to pay homage to the people who struggled for civil rights of African American in 1920s. Nowadays, the event is used as a platform for the dialogue between citizens on the different issues.
