On Monday, director of the Virunga national park Emmanuel de Merode announced that the national park would be closed till the end of the year. The decision to close Africa’s oldest national park with a world-famous population of mountain gorillas was taken after 12 rangers killed in clashes with militia and smugglers in the last 2 month and recent abduction of tourists.
