The Gambia: “Welcome to the Smiling Coast”
The documentary made by Alagie Manka (Gambian leading film producer), Bas Ackermann (a Dutch filmmaker) and Emiel Martens (a film scholar from Amsterdam), and presented on many international film festivals, including screenings in USA, Europe and Africa, offers an insight into the daily lives of fifteen youngsters moving within the boundaries of tourism industry of the Gambia. This small country has become a popular holiday destination for European tourists: ince 2005, the country typically receives over 100.000 foreign visitors every year, earning its reputation for being Africa’s Costa del Sol.
