Written by long time APP collaborator Kristina Bekenova, In Their Own Voices (2019) s the third book by one of the APP contributors. In Their Own Voices presents a series of interviews with several African emerging leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, the Gambia, Nigeria, Malawi, Rwanda, Somaliland, South Africa, South Sudan, and Zimbabwe.
The book represents an excellent tool to explore and understand the ambitions, the energy, the expectations, the interests, the hopes of the African continent. It speaks about Africa’s present, but provides some glimpses into what may be its future.
The book will be of interest for those who already know Africa and for those who want to learn about it.
The key insight of the book is that these emerging leaders may provide Africa with the leadership it needs to make progress along the developmental path.
