“The insurgents are attacking the gas-rich northern province of Cabo Delgado near the border with Tanzania(…). UN Refugee Agency said at least 100,000 people were displaced throughout the province as a result of the escalation of violence adding that at least 28 attacks were carried out since the beginning of the year, and the violence is spreading towards the province’s south.”


“The Nigerian Army yesterday confirmed three soldiers and four others wounded during an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on troops of 25 Task Force Brigade (Army Super Camp 2) in Damboa, Borno State, on Wednesday. The spokesman of Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement, also said 19 Boko Haram corpses were recovered; while many more were observed escaping with various degrees of gunshot wounds.”

“The Nigerian Air Force yesterday said its Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole destroyed some logistics facilities belonging to Boko Haram terrorists at Bakari Gana on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State on Wednesday.”

South Sudan

“The aid group Doctors Without Borders this week reported the intensifying conflict in Jonglei state of South Sudan has sent thousands of people fleeing.  Among those killed in the latest violence were two aid workers with the British charity Tearfund, who were shot to death when gunmen ambushed their vehicle on Monday. Along with the violence, food shortages continue to plague the country.”



“Omar Gasim told Radio Dabanga that four gunmen on camels attacked a vehicle that was on its way from Kendebe in West Darfur to Bir Sileiba on Tuesday, Ibrahim Shogar was killed outright, and another was wounded. The robbers made off with the money and goods in the vehicle.”
