Human Rights Watched asked the European Union (EU) to impose sanctions on leaders and senior officials from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The move is expected to prevent a deterioration of the crisis that has affected the Democratic Republic of Congo since President Kabila announced plans to seek a third term in office.

While calling for sanctions is costless, and Human Rights Groups have every right to call for sanctions, imposing sanctions may not be the best course of action to solve a crisis.
