On October 17 we wrote that members of the lower chamber of the Burundian parliament had overwhelmingly passed a vote to withdraw from ICC (http://www.africanpoliticsandpolicy.com/?p=4143). In or brief note, we reported the view of the Burundian Ambassador to the USA, who was credited for saying that in the next few months several and possibly many other African countries would leave ICC.
The views expressed by the Burundian Ambassador were recently corroborated. South Africa is also taking steps to withdraw from ICC which is believed to be biased against African countries (http://allafrica.com/stories/201610210236.html).
South Africa took this decision to align its international law obligations with its domestic ones (http://allafrica.com/stories/201610210747.html).
