Internet in two Anglophone regions of Northwest and Southwest Cameroon was banned. This decision was made after weeks of protests against marginalization of English speakers. On 18 January, two organizations – the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium and the Southern Cameroons National Council, were closed for their call for a return to a two-state federation or even for a secession from Cameroon.
