In a previous post we noted that South Africa’s minister for police stated that former Zimbabwean soldiers enter illegally into South Africa where they rob and kill (http://www.africanpoliticsandpolicy.com/?p=6015).

We noted that the evidence provided by the Minister was sketchy at best, that his line of reasoning was fallacious, and that the combination of poor reasoning and lack of evidence results in bad policy making.

We forgot to mention that poor thinking and lack of evidence can also deteriorate relationships both within a country and between countries as this article so clearly illustrates.

This article makes another point on which we very much agree: South Africa deserves a better leadership and some of the problems it is now experiencing are by and large the result of poor leadership.
